The electrification of industrial equipment is accelerating. Forklifts, pallet jacks, airport ground support equipment, and agricultural and construction machinery are increasingly battery-powered and increasingly operating in outdoor environments impacted by moisture, dust, debris, extreme temperatures and rough handling. The demand for delivering more power in compact space continues to grow, and Design Engineers are looking to build smarter, more autonomous equipment with advanced signaling capabilities. To support this industry evolution, battery connectors with numerous auxiliaries are essential to monitor and control technology-intensive systems.
The industry needed a connector that was built for durability and next-generation equipment, and the Anderson Power Industrial Battery Connector (IBC) delivered.
Launched in 2025 and available in three sizes that support multiple configurations, the IBC is a first-of-its-kind DIN VDE 0623-589 and EN 1175:2020 -compliant high-power battery connector series. Featuring multiple patent-pending features, the IBC is engineered for the demands of modern industrial electrification. The series covers the full range of power needs across the category:
- IBC 320: 165 - 460A, 3 cartridges that support up to 10 auxiliary signals, 4 auxiliary signals and 2 auxiliary signals with air tubes respectively, 50–120 mm² wire size.
- IBC 160: 120 - 270A, up to 6 auxiliary signals (plus 2 signals with air tube configuration), 25–50 mm² wire size
- IBC 80: 80 - 160A, 4 auxiliary signals, 10–35 mm² wire size.
- All models rated for a minimum of 5,000 mating cycles and available with accessories that support contact temp sensing, IP68 sealing, and connection security.
The IBC introduced multiple industry firsts.
The most striking of those firsts is the IBC's IP68 upgrade Accessory Kit. The IBC is the first DIN connector to offer an IP68-rated add-on accessory, providing full protection against moisture, dust, and debris while mated. This feature drew especially strong interest from customers developing equipment for outdoor use and applications exposed to power washing, validating the market need for a more environmentally durable connector.
Equally significant is the IBC's Contact Temperature Sensing Enablement, another category first. This patent-pending add-on integrates a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) sensor directly at the contacts to enable the detection and prevention of overheating in real time.
Beyond protection and safety, the IBC raises the bar on battery monitoring capability. The IBC 320 supports up to 10 auxiliary signal configurations, more than the four to eight auxiliary signals most alternatives max out at. Those additional signal channels enable richer battery management system integration, faster smart charging, more monitoring capabilities and extended battery and connector service life. In customer conversations, this 10 auxiliary capability consistently sparked interest, as engineers and potential users began identifying new ways it could support smarter, more advanced systems.
The IBC also sets a new standard that allows engineers design flexibility and quality assurance, and it offers maintenance operators reduced serviceability time, and potential for enhanced lifespan:
- Modular Contact Cartridge Design: One patent-pending housing serves three connector configurations. Contacts click into place tool-free, drastically cutting service time and reducing parts inventory requirements for OEMs and technicians.
- Dual Wire Strain Relief: Anderson Power is the first brand to offer simultaneous strain relief for both power and auxiliary wires on a DIN industrial battery connector, protecting connections from mechanical stress and extending wire life across the connector's full service life.
- Panel Mount Option: The only compact panel mount option in the DIN industrial battery connector category, enabling installations in space-constrained equipment designs where no solution previously existed.
- Busbar Contact Option: Available with the panel mount receptacle, providing a common electrical junction for high-voltage applications.
- Latching Handle Accessories: Anderson Power is also the first brand to offer customizable handle accessory add-ons for improved control and a secure mechanical connection during mating and unmating.
Together, these innovations represent the future of what a DIN-compliant industrial battery connector can be.
The IBC solves longstanding category limitations in one cohesive design. It delivers the flexibility and features manufacturers and engineers increasingly need: intelligent monitoring, faster charging, longer lifespan, and true environmental durability. When specifying the IBC, equipment designers don't have to choose between power, compatibility, customizability, safety and durability because Anderson Power has integrated it all into a connector that advances the category.
