MSPM0G5187 MSPM0 microcontrollers (MCUs) unlock edge AI-enabled intelligence in simple, power-constrained applications through an integrated TinyEngine™ neural processing unit (NPU). These 80MHz Arm®️ Cortex®️-M0+ based MCUs extend the scalability and ease-of-use of TI’s expansive MSPM0 MCU portfolio to now support localized low-latency, low-power deep learning inference operations– reducing reliance on cloud-based resources.
TI’s edge AI-MCUs like MSPM0518x are backed by TI’s CCStudio™ Edge AI Studio, a free development environment that simplifies model selection, training and deployment. This edge AI toolchain gives engineers full flexibility to run AI models on TI MCUs through either hardware or software implementation.
TI’s new MSPM0G5187 MCUs, part of TI’s MSPM0 portfolio, represent a fundamental shift for embedded designers, who can now bring edge AI to a range of simpler, smaller and more cost-effective applications where AI has traditionally been seen as too expensive or difficult to implement at scale.
The TinyEngine NPU executes machine learning algorithms in parallel to the primary CPU running application code. This hardware acceleration reduces flash memory footprint, lowers latency by up to 90 times and consumes up to 120 times less power per inference than software-based AI, enabling resource-constrained devices – including portable, battery-powered products – to process AI workloads.
